The Upper Wharfedale Primary Collaboration Governance September 2016
The four schools Burnsall, Cracoe and Rylstone, Grassington and Kettlewell will be collaborating from September 1st 2016. Later that month, the Governors will be publishing consultation papers regarding a proposal to Federate from February 1st 2017. Whether we federate or continue to collaborate, we shall be working much more closely together, particularly in terms of leadership and Governance.
In order to share skills and provide a good basis for moving forward together, the Governors of the four schools will, in the first instance, establish three joint committees, in addition to the JSDC which is managing the whole process. These committees will be responsible for advising the main Governing Bodies of all the schools and the JSDC on all matters related to School Improvement and the deployment of resources.
The first School Improvement committee will consist of Ian Douglass and Siobhan Tywang from Grassington with Maggie Mclellan and Anne Vetch from Kettlewell, in addition to the Headteacher Julie Morton Lee. This committee will oversee all aspects of teaching and learning at the two schools, Grassington and Kettlewell. At Burnsall and Cracoe this will be carried out by their current committee. The Resources committee will oversee finances at all four schools and will have as its members the present four Chairs, the Headteacher and Richard Barlow.
In this way we hope to be able to plan for the future Federation whilst maintaining our statutory and crucial responsibilities in these two areas and above all ensuring that all children are provided with the very best educational opportunities.
